There are many hotels, motels and resorts in and around Tempe (and available by lightrail)--from luxuriously decadent to a walk on the wild side. The recommended hotels listed here are clean, affordable (relatively speaking), and located within convenient walking distance to the ASU campus and the Memorial Union conference site.
Make sure to mention that you are with the Western States Rhetoric and Literacy Conference / ASU to get the conference rate if available. October marks the beginning of the busy tourist season for the Phoenix area and Tempe hotels fill up quickly.
